Business Listings Policy

The rules and expectations for creating, claiming, and managing a business listing on Whats Poppin GR.

Last updated: October 31, 2026

1. Overview

This policy applies to anyone who creates, claims, edits, or manages a business listing on Whats Poppin GR ("the platform"). Business listings help our community discover and connect with local businesses across West Michigan, so we ask owners and managers to keep listings accurate, current, and representative of a real, operating business. By creating or claiming a listing, you agree to follow this policy in addition to our Terms of Service.

2. Who Can Create or Claim a Listing

A business listing must be created or claimed by an owner, employee, or authorized representative of that business. Listing a business you have no affiliation with, or claiming a business on someone else's behalf without authorization, is not permitted. If a listing for your business already exists on the platform, you must claim it rather than create a duplicate.

3. Listing Content & Accuracy

Business listings can include a website link, social media links, image uploads, a bio, one or more addresses, a defined service area, phone numbers and other contact information, operating hours, and more. All information you provide must:

  • Belong to the business the listing represents. No linking to unrelated websites, unrelated social accounts, or accounts made for personal use.
  • Reflect real, current store hours, addresses, and service areas, updated promptly when they change.
  • Use images you own or have the right to use, that accurately depict the business, its products, or its location.
  • Avoid discriminatory, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise unlawful content in any bio, image, or listing field.

We reserve the right to edit, unpublish, or remove any listing that violates these standards without prior notice.

4. Claiming an Existing Listing

Some businesses may already appear on the platform before an owner claims them. To claim a listing, you'll be asked to verify your affiliation with the business (such as a matching business email domain, phone number, or other documentation). We may deny or reverse a claim at any time if we're unable to verify a legitimate connection to the business, or if a dispute arises between multiple parties claiming the same listing.

5. Team Member Access

Listing owners may invite team members to help manage a business's profile, including editing listing details, responding to activity, and managing sponsored events. Owners are responsible for who they grant access to and should remove access promptly when a team member no longer needs it (for example, after they leave the business). Whats Poppin GR is not responsible for changes made by team members granted access by the listing owner.

6. Listing Analytics

Every business listing includes performance data visible to the owner and any invited team members, including total page views, average view time, and total favorites/followers. This data reflects general, anonymized platform activity only and is intended to help businesses understand engagement with their listing.

7. Sponsoring Event Listings

Businesses may sponsor an event listing in one of two ways: by requesting to sponsor an event, which the organizer may approve or deny, or by asking the organizer to add them as a sponsor directly through the event management dashboard. A business may only be shown as a sponsor of an event it genuinely supports, hosts, or is affiliated with the event. Sponsorships may be removed if this is found not to be the case. See our Event Listings Policy for more on event-side rules.

8. Enforcement

Violations of this policy may result in a listing being edited, unpublished, unclaimed, or permanently removed, and may result in warnings, feature restrictions, or suspension of an account depending on severity and history. We aim to be fair and will generally notify listing owners of action taken, except in cases involving fraud, impersonation, or repeated abuse.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and continued use of business listing features after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
