Profile Listings Policy

How public and private profiles work, what's expected of you as a member of the community, and how we keep connections on the platform safe.

Last updated: October 31, 2026

1. Overview

This policy applies to every personal profile on Whats Poppin GR ("the platform"), whether public or private. Profiles are how our community finds and connects with real people across West Michigan, so we ask every member to keep their profile honest, respectful, and their own. By creating a profile, you agree to follow this policy in addition to our Terms of Service.

2. Profile Ownership & Authenticity

A profile must represent one real person: you. Creating a profile for someone else without their permission, maintaining more than one profile for yourself, impersonating another person or business, or operating a profile as a bot or automated account is not permitted. Your display name and photos should be your own and should reasonably represent who you actually are.

3. Public vs. Private Profiles

You control whether your profile is public or private at any time. A public profile can be discovered in the community directory and search, and its display name, bio, and public activity may be visible to other members and, in some cases, search engines. A private profile is hidden from directory search and discovery — only people you've connected with can view your full profile. Regardless of visibility setting, the standards in this policy apply equally to every profile.

4. Profile Content Standards

Your display name, bio, avatar, banner image, and any linked social accounts must:

  • Belong to you. No impersonating another person, business, or public figure.
  • Use images you own or have the right to use, that reasonably represent you.
  • Avoid discriminatory, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise unlawful content in any field, photo, or bio.
  • Avoid sharing another person's private information (such as an address, phone number, or financial information) without their consent.
  • Steer clear of spam, scams, or content whose primary purpose is to promote an unrelated product or service.

We reserve the right to edit, hide, or remove any profile content that violates these standards without prior notice.

5. Connections & Quick Connect

Members can send connection requests to build their network, either by searching the directory or through Quick Connect at in-person events. A connection request should only be sent to someone you genuinely want to connect with. Using connection requests to harass, spam, or repeatedly contact someone who has ignored or denied your request is not permitted. Recipients are free to accept, deny, or ignore any request for any reason.

6. Blocking & Removing Connections

You can remove an existing connection or block another profile at any time. Blocking prevents that profile from viewing your profile, sending you connection requests, or contacting you further through the platform. Attempting to re-contact someone through a new or alternate profile after being blocked or removed is a violation of this policy.

7. Safety & Reporting

Keeping the community safe is a shared responsibility. If another profile violates this policy (which includes impersonation, harassment, inappropriate content, or unwanted contact after being blocked), please report it so our team can review the account. We investigate reports in good faith and may take action independent of whether a formal report was filed, based on what we find.

8. Enforcement

We reserve the right to restrict a member's use of the platform for violating this policy, at a scope proportionate to the severity and history of the violation. This can include editing or removing profile content, disabling specific features (such as sending connection requests), temporarily suspending an account, or permanently deactivating it. We aim to be fair and will generally notify members of action taken and the reason for it, except in cases involving impersonation, harassment, fraud, or repeated abuse, where we may act without prior notice to protect other members.

All enforcement of these policies is ultimately determined by the discretion of the What's Poppin GR moderation team. Profiles on What's Poppin GR may be revoked at any time for any reason.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and continued use of profile features after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
